PRESS RELEASE: Care to Care Helps Touchstone Health Ensure the Right Care at the Right Time


New York, NY (May 21, 2010) – Care to Care, an evidence-based radiology benefits management company, has renewed its contract with Touchstone Health to manage diagnostic imaging utilization services for Touchstone’s Medicare Advantage membership.  Under the renewed contract, Care to Care will continue to offer provider education and outreach, claims processing and appeals, utilization management, and performance tracking.

 

In 2007 Touchstone Health signed on with Care to Care to manage radiology services. Since then, it has continued to realize efficiencies under the full service Care to Care Radiology Benefits Management Program.  The program utilizes current, evidence-based criteria to ensure the proper use of medical imaging and gives Touchstone Health members access to high-quality, cost-effective outpatient diagnostic imaging.

Within the last five years, a number of studies have reaffirmed that as many as one-third of high tech imaging procedures are not medically necessary and provide no information of value in determining patient outcome.  Unnecessary imaging has contributed to exposing patients to additional ionizing radiation and escalated imaging cost.  To mitigate these factors, Care to Care technology establishes measures to enable patients are provided with clinically appropriate imaging procedures that are performed by a qualified provider, and delivered using current and safe equipment. The company program also emphasizes the importance of providers’ training and licensing as well
